Gov. Douye Diri Charges Youths Against Drugs Abuse

” Now, what we have done today is to set before the youths of Bayelsa is to emphasize that drug abuse leads to death. God Himself has told us that he has given us two options; options of death and life; so it is your will to see whether you want to go with death or go with life.

” And so, as a government we are admonished, and we are now prepared to make you to choose life; and this occasion today is actually asking you to choose life”

“Drug abuse in our state is known to all of us and, I dear say that crime and criminality and drug abuse are inversely related. Do checkout, a lot of crime that we see in Bayelsa state are influenced by one substance or the other.

I am one of the happiest persons at this event to sensitize Bayelsans and I am sure going forward as I told the committee chairman, you have more work to do from today in our schools, secondary and tertiary.”

“Naturally, the Ijaw man is a traditional champion, he is very strong and I don’t think you need drug to be stronger; Ijaw man is a very good wrestler, that is one of our tradition, our culture and we wrestled and we become very strong, in fact those who take drug, some of them are weak.

Bayelsa from today we have all agreed we would no longer be number two or three in the ranking of drug abuse in Nigeria.”
