“A Leader is one who knows the ways, shows the way and goes the way” John Maxwell
The above quote by John Maxwell is an exact description of Hon Ndudi Elumelu who has continued to provide leadership to his Constituency and his colleagues at the minority caucus of the House of Representatives in a manner unprecedented in the history of parliamentary opposition Politics in Nigeria.
The minority Leader of the House of Representatives, the Rt. Hon Ndudi Elumelu, has no doubt emerged as one of the Country’s most impactful lawmakers in the National Assembly particularly the House of Representatives due to his Uncommon commitments to deepening the cause of democracy through not only ground breaking lawmaking but promoting the spirit of Politics without bitterness.
Even when some very powerful forces where against his emergence as the head of that very important body of the legislature, he prevailed over them to their chagrin and admiration of Nigerians and has continued to heal the wounds of the very bitter struggle that ensued during his bid for the minority leadership position.
Nigerians will recall the motion on the resignation of the Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Dr. Isa Pantami over a comment that has to do with terrorism. He had also moved the motion to stop the disbursement of repatriated £4.2 million laundered by former Delta State governor , James Ibori and insisted that it must be returned to Delta, due to his passion for his people.
When the nation was helpless Elumelu sponsored the motion urging the country’s security outfits to find out the whereabouts of a Newspapers reporter, covering the House, Tordue Salem who was later found dead in Abuja.
As the Leader of the minority caucus of the house Elumelu led the caucus to reject the removal of electronic transmission of election results clause in the recently assented electoral act amendment bill.
On this note it will not be out of place to state that leaders like Hon Elumelu who are striving to right the many wrongs in the country must be supported and elevated to attain higher Political offices in the next Political dispensation.
